Ground balance procedure for MP V3 & MP V3+
- Turn the detector on from the Volume control.
- Set the audio to a level comfortable for you.
- Set the threshold to a barely audible level.
- Set the discrimination level to 0 if a low frequency coil is fitted.
** Depending on the search conditions, some minor adjustment may need to be made.
For high frequency coils the discrimination level will be different.
- Mineral Control and VCO Off.
- Find ground free from metal.
- Turn the Coarse ground balance knob to 10 (fully clockwise).
- Begin moving the search coil up and down between approximately 8 cm and 25 cm above ground.
** Do not perform ground balance with the search coil touching the ground.
- If the detector beeps while the search coil is going up - turn the Fine GB knob slightly to the right.
- If the detector beeps while the search coil is going down - turn the Fine GB knob slightly to the left.
- Keep repeating step 8. & 9. until there are no beeping sounds when the search coil moves up and down. If the Fine ground balance is out of range (the detector beeps only when the coil goes down) then turn the Coarse GB to 9.5-9 to set a different GB range.
Tip: On highly mineralized soil it may be necessary to apply some mineral control.
