For all brands of metal detectors there is no "Standard Settings". Settings will depend on several factors.
Experience
Advanced users have mastered settings through experience.
Ground Balance
Proper ground balancing before attempting any settings is important.
Start With Following User Manual Instructions
Start with studying the user manual and minimal tweaking of the functions. If what is explained is not completely understood, a trial and error approach to establish what a function does may also be useful.
Sensitivity
Start with a medium setting, which means less depth, but the detector will be more stable and starting this way will help you learn more about what good signals sounds like. Starting with a higher sensitivity is one of the reasons people give up metal detecting, because without knowledge of what a signal means the multiple tones produced by the detector become impossible to handle. The ultimate goal is to be able to run the detector on the best sensitivity for the model you are using, this ability is achieved only over time and the learning period depends on a good strategy.
Discrimination
A good start is to raise the discrimination setting enough to eliminate iron.
Recovery Speed
Start with a medium level which will keep faint signals audible.
Don't believe claims for "magic standard settings" since it does not exist.
What does metal detector settings depend on?
- The ground conditions on the site you are searching on, what the moisture content is, what the mineral content is ect.
- What targets you are searching for.
- If there is any interference in the area and much more.
- The search coil size and frequency you are using. Large search coils require lower sensitivity and reducing of the mineral control.
