When using a metal detector, it is important to remember that you are detecting metals with a device which is suppose to detect all metals.
Examples Of What Could Prevent You From Stabilising Your Detector With Settings
(This is not a complete list)
- Clothing items such as trousers with a large metal buckle or zipper, metal decorations
- Boots with internal metal structure.
- Metal items in your pocket such as keys.
- Strong powerlines
- Electric fences
- Mobile phone searching for range. While scanning, this can produce uneven signals on a metal detector
