Search coils are not related and/or affected by any soil conditions. The reason is because all search coils are a loop of wire.
What gets affected by soil conditions is the electronics of all metal detectors as they are loaded with the task to separate ground signals from metal target signals.
All PI detectors and most IB detectors are affected by clay in the soil.
Metal detectors produced by Nexus are not affected by any clay in the soil.
